OutRAGEous

From setting the trend with the 1st gen of the RAGE woofers, watching them gain in popularity & success, the gap from the RIOT series was too narrow. Albeit the performance of the RAGE XL seemed to be far ahead from the RAGE. The prevalence to upgrade your system, with cost efficient high power amplifiers is greater than before. 2 to 3.000 watts is near considered a minimum or a standard today. So we decided to redesign the RAGE to be outRageous. The v2 isn’t a mere facelift, but an entirely new platform. The 15″ also marked a total farewell to the TI basket.

The new basket is a clear derivative from our other custom tooled platforms, but with a simpler & less featured design, better suited for subwoofers below the RAGE XL series. Still there’s plenty of bling, which the B2 logos under the spokes exemplifies.

The Gain

Switching it up, our beefier subs has near always been available in dual 1 & dual 2 Ω. So the v2 had to fall in that line. The magnet structure was inspired by the long lived & loved HN series, but with clear advantages. With oversized flared vents on the woofers backplate its clearly obvious! Moving air & heat more effectively keeps your coil cooler and lowers distortion. Gaining in all aspects, the motor system has a 15% increase in width  and  6% in height vs the first gen RAGE. Heavy weight, fittingly describing the new voice coil. A 15% +  taller wind increases xmax, power handling & the lower fs helps with deep bass frequency response. Based on specs alone this RAGE v2 is OutRAGEous. It even surpasses the HN in xmech and the taller roll surround offers less resistance and a cleaner sound at larger excursions.

Soaring Sugar

12″ and 15″ woofers both offer the oversized dual tinsel leads mated with a 10″ progressive nomex spider. Connectivity is handled by massive 4GA speaker terminals. The Cones are still coated and thick paper for a richer sound, mated with and up to 8″ extra stiff dustcap keeping all in check. Finalizing the sweetness with some added frosting, the white aluminum gasket with B2 audio on it, nearly causes a sugar shock.

THE AUTHORITY

Is your RAGE small, thus confined space, the 6.5 & the 8″ RAGE subwoofers have gained a lot of traction these recent years. They are great subwoofers for underseat enclosures in trucks & SUV’s. Most popular installs are with either 6 x 6.5″ or 4 x 8″ powered by anything from 1500 to 3500 watts. Need a single woofer setup? These RAGE’s have the authority to widen the the frequency response of any high end factory system.

The Blessing

These small woofers have also received the V2 blessing.
The SAFT** & OCAF** were expanded to feature both 6.5″ & 8″. The advantages are clear. Increased cooling and smoother air flow. Attributes that are helpful for your spl output and audio reproduction. These baskets are designed for a higher excursion.  The 8″ had the spider spaced farther apart from the cone, giving it more area to extend itself without mechanical noise. Both woofers have even gotten the added benefit of 6 extra pole vents, increasing the power handling with 25% vs the v1. Adding both rigidity & strength, the new custom composite fiber dustcap, with protruding logo keeps the cone stable. The fact it just looks awesome is a mere bonus!
