About: PAC RP4.2-BM21 Radio Replacement Interface with SWC Retention for Select BMW Vehicles

An all-in-one radio replacement and SWC interface, the innovative RadioPRO4 comes pre-loaded with amplifier retention and SWC software, navigation-based output signals, and other features that save time and money during installation. 

The RP4.2-BM21 interface allows the replacement of a factory radio in select BMW vehicles. Using this interface will retain factory features such as: steering wheel controls (SWC), iDrive controls and warning chimes (including rear park assist and front collision detection). Use of this interface also allows you to program two radio functions to each SWC button by using short press long press dual command functionality. The RP4.2-BM21 also provides data bus drive.

• Removes SOS error light from cluster after factory radio is removed

• Highly visible tricolor LEDs to keep the user informed of the module’s status.
• Retains factory amplifier (Non-Fiber-Optic)
• Retains i-Drive control. Operates some features of the aftermarket radio (tuning, etc.)
• Retains rear park assist and front collision detection
• Direct USB updatable. PAC-UP NOT Required.
• Also not compatible with the following:
• Does not retain amplifiers equipped with a Fiber-Optic input
• 1 Series equipped with navigation is not compatible
• 2006 3 Series coupe is not compatible

Compatibility Notes: 

•  Incompatible with vehicles equipped with the upper display screen (above radio) (CCC or CIC systems). This screen is not retained if the radio is removed, and the owner will lose the ability to adjust some vehicle settings. Radio replacement is not recommended for those applications.
• Does not retain amplifiers equipped with a Fiber-Optic input
• 1 Series equipped with navigation is not compatible
• 2006 3 Series coupe is not compatible
• Due to lack of a true 12 volt battery lead at the radio opening, it is necessary to run a wire (wire is included) to the battery (located in the trunk).
