About: Sony SMAD-P5 Multi Interface (MI) Shoe Adaptor

The SMAD-P5 Multi Interface (MI) Shoe Adaptor allows convenient, cable-free connection of the URX-P40 wireless receiver to compatible camcorders or interchangeable-lens cameras featuring an MI (Multi Interface) shoe. Audio signals are transmitted directly from the wireless receiver to the camera with no need for connecting cables. The adaptor also supports direct digital audio recording with compatible camcorders, bypassing A/D and D/A conversion stages to deliver high sound quality with low noise.

The SMAD-P5 allows the wireless receiver to draw power from the camcorder via the MI shoe, while receiver power ON/OFF can be controlled directly from the camera. The SMAD-P5 is applicable to XDCAM Camcorder PXW-FX9, PXW-FS7, PXW-FS7II, PXWFS5, PXW-FS5K, PXW-Z280/Z190, PXW-X280/X200*, PXW-X180/X160, PXW-Z150**, PXW-Z90 and PXW-X70, NXCAM Camcorder HXR-NX5R, HXR-NX80, HXR-MC2500 and HXR-MC88, Handycam FDR-AX60 and NEX-VG30E, interchangeable lens digital camera α7II, α7III, α7RII, α7RIII, α7RIV, α7S, α7SII, α9 and α99II with analog output setting. Digital connection is available with PXW-FX9, PXW-Z280/Z190 and α7RIV. PXW-FX9 and PXW-Z280/Z190 can show the wireless microphone status on the LCD or viewfinder. (as of September 2019) 

PXW-X200 firmware should be upgraded to Ver.2.00 or later for using SMAD-P5. **When using with PXW-Z150 operated by AC power, please set a battery on the camera. Without a battery, we do not guarantee the power supply function or power ON/OFF control function. In that case, insert new AA alkaline batteries in the receiver and set the receiver’s power select (PWR SOURCE) menu item to BATT ONLY mode to avoid an unexpected shutdown of the camera or data loss.
